Escaping The “If Only”

Many people live their lives thinking of the past. Some look at certain past moments and consider them moments that changed their lives forever for the good. Others see moments that changed their lives forever for the bad. In the case of the latter, the thought often is, “if only” I had done or said so-and-so. We also call this regret. It can be very difficult to escape these. For me, I know I have had my share of if only moments. Thinking on this point this morning I realized something that I had not previously considered. We can escape them. Our Father in heaven is all about renewal, and always has been.

Psalms 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

Lamentations 3:21 This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope.
22 It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Yahuah (Lord), our God, is the one true God. He is the master of everything, including time. He is able to make something good out of everything that occurs. He is able to keep us on track. He has provided His commandments for just that purpose, like a guidepost and a light house as we travel through life. We can get past the past (if need be) and make the future into something with no if only moments if in the present, in these moments right now, we will take the time to seek Him and His ways. Then no matter what comes, we will know that we have done all we could. We can trust in Him to do the rest.

Prayer
Father, we exalt You. You are our King. We need Your kingdom here. Let everything praise the name Yahuah (Lord)! Send us Your overwhelming blessing today. We need to hear from You and see You work in our lives today. Forgive us for our sin. Deliver us. We desperately need Your deliverance from the evil that is stealing from us what You have provided. Come with a strong hand and an outstretched arm. We need You and love You. In Yeshua’s (Jesus’) name. Amen.
