Keeping The Sabbath
When we to keep the Sabbath, according to many scriptures.
Exodus 31:16 Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant.
17 It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.
In the keeping of the Sabbath there is recognition of the covenant between our Father and His people. The Sabbath is to cause us to be refreshed. If we will rest on that day, and do so in recognition of the covenant, we can be refreshed.
The word for “keep” in Hebrew, שָׁמַר which is pronounced “shamar”, is an interesting word for certain. It carries with it the sense of obligation and task. It also means to guard and to watch over, like someone being a watchman for or a defender of something valuable and important. Perhaps when we look at these things, we need to remember the basics of their purpose and how we got them. From that, we can be “with” our Father – on His side in all we do.
Not sure if I am conveying what I am thinking very well. But we are given the charge to be those that guard the day of rest – guard the Sabbath. Somehow, that also helps us to be in the secret place of the Most High. Today, I need that sense of peace.
Prayer
Father, we praise and exalt You. You alone are our King! Praise the name YAH! Let Your kingdom come here in the hearts and minds of mankind. Let Your will be done here perfectly, as it is in heaven. Send us now Your overwhelming provision that we might overflow to those around us. Deliver us from the evil here. Forgive us our trespasses and transgressions, and help us all to forgive those that have trespassed or transgressed against us. Wipe away all thoughts and memories of the evil done to us or by us. In their place let there be only thoughts and memories of You and Your love for us. Restore unto Your people one thousandfold all that has been taken or held back in any way or eaten of that which is good, and the more besides. Send in quickly the $423,923,962.53 that we might use it to promote Your kingdom in the hearts and minds of mankind. Help us, my King. We need You. We ask all these things in the name of our Messiah Yeshuah (Jesus). We ask all these things of You, Father, in Your name, YAH. WE ask all these things in the name YAH Yeshuah. Amen.
