Welcome Home

One story in scripture is often spoken about to reflect the return home of a child that has made some bad choices. That is the story of the prodigal son. The part of this story that has always impacted me is the welcome the father in the story prepared for his son.

Luke 15:18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,
19 And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.
20 And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.
21 And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.
22 But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:
23 And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:
24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.

Although a parable, our Messiah told the story to make an important point. Sinners, those that transgress the Law, will be drawn to the power and truth that is poured forth by the Messiah. We need to have hearts that rejoice when someone turns from their sin (transgression of the Law). In our land, we can easily become cynical, even to the point of making jest at someone that does repent. What if instead, we would be like the father in the story? What if we would be like our Father, and welcome them home?

Welcome home!

Prayer
Father, we exalt You. You are our King! Praise the name YAH! Send us now Your overwhelming provision such that it might overflow to those around us. Forgive us our trespasses and transgressions, that we might forgive those that have trespassed or transgressed against us. Wipe away all thoughts and memories of the evil done to us or by us. In their place let there be only thoughts and memories of You. Heal us from the inside. Deliver us from the evil here. Restore unto Your people one thousandfold all that has been taken or held back in any way that is good, whether lands, monies, wealth, prosperity, goods, relationships, or anything else, and the more besides.
