Doing Our Best
None of us are perfect. We will always make mistakes. But that does not mean we should not try to be perfect. In fact our Messiah tells us to be perfect in one way.
Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
We see here that the perfection we are to try to be is to love everyone, even those that treat us badly. One reason for this is they are also a reflection, an image, of our Father because He created them as well as us. And equally important is what it make us – more like our Father who loved us all so much that He sent His Son to die for us all.
We will all sin, which is transgression of the Law.
1 John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
What is important is that we return to our Father, that we repent from evil and to our Father, and He will forgive and wash away our sin.
1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
Our life with the Father is a walk here on earth, not a destination. The destination is in the future. A walk is a journey. On that walk we need to continually seek Him, being quick to repent from evil to Him. In this we receive from our Father all good gifts, an abundant life.
James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
Let us therefore work toward loving all men, that we might be more like our Father, Yahuah (Lord).
Prayer
Father we exalt You. You alone are our King! Praise the name Yahuah! Let Your will, Yahuah, be done here among us as it is in heaven. Send us today Your overwhelming provision such that it overflows to those around us. Forgive us our trespasses and transgressions, and help us all to forgive those that have trespassed and transgressed against us. Clease from our hearts and minds all thoughts and memories of evil, iniquity, and transgression such that no remnant of them remain. Heal us with Your loving touch, filling these voids with thoughts and memories of only You. Restore right relationships among us. Renew our bodies and make us whole. Deliver us from the evil here and in the air. Restore all that has been taken or held back in any way, and that one hyndredfold, that all men might know that You alone are our Elohim. We ask all these things in the name of our Messiah Yeshuah (Jesus). Amen.
