We Have Comfort
Today I thought of the subject of comfort. We can tend to think that we should not look for comfort, and in the sense that we are looking for “an easy life” or one where we are more interested in taking it easy than in promoting God’s kingdom, comfort is not so good. However, it is clear that we are to be comforted by the Holy Spirit because our Messiah specifically told us so.
John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
We see that we are to receive the Holy Spirit, and that we will be comforted when Jesus comes to us. From this we know that comfort from Him is a good thing. What He said just before this is also a source of comfort to us.
John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
If we believe on Yeshuah (Jesus) as Yahuah (Lord), then we will love HIm and keep His commandments. ANd anything we ask in His name, He will do it.
That is a great comfort, indeed!
Prayer
Father, we exalt You. You alone are our King! Bless the name Yahuah (Lord)! Let Your kingdom be here as it is in the heavens. Send us today Your overwhelming blessing and provision such that they overflow to those around us. Forgive us our transgressions, and help us all to forgive those that have transgressed against us. Cleanse our hearts and minds, that we remember the bad no more. Restore right relationships among us. Restore unto Your people one hundredfold all that has been taken or held back in any way from Your people of that which is good. WE ask all these things in the name of our Messiah Yeshuah (Jesus).
