When To Be Thankful
We can easily see in the scriptures that many of the writers expressed thankfulness to Yahuah (Lord) throughout their walks with Him. Some of our favorite songs come from passages where the writer was offering up thanks to Him.
Psalms 100:1 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.
2 Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
3 Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
5 For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.
We see here that David did as he encouraged others to do – be thankful as we begin to praise Him. But when should we thank Yahuah (Lord)? After we receive something? When we receive something? Before we receive something? There are several scriptures that give us guidance here.
Ephesians 5:19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
Here Paul tells to thank Him at all times – before, during, and after. Why might that make sense? Because we are expected to know that we have what we ask when we ask.
1 John 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
So we are to believe that God hears us and responds. And we know that He knows what we need even before we ask.
Matthew 6:5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
Therefore we can and should thank Him at all times because we live inside of His love and answered prayer at all times. Praise and thank the name Yahuah!
Prayer
Father, we exalt You. You alone are our God and King! Your kingdom is the only one we seek. Bless and praise the name Yahuah! Send us today Your overwhelming provision so great that we cannot hold it! We love You! Forgive us our sins. Heal up our minds and hearts, and cleanse them and us from all unrighteousness. deliver us from the evil and wicked that would steal from us what You have already provided. You are our Deliverer; come with a strong hand and outstretched arm to deliver Your people this very day, all day, and smith the works of those that are stealing from Your people. We ask these things in the name of our Messiah Yeshua (Jesus). Amen.
