Listening And Learning

When we choose to listen for and to the voice of God, we create opportunity for ourselves to grow. God wants to give us good gifts. Among those are wisdom and understanding, which will bring us life.

Proverbs 2:1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.
6 For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
7 He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.
8 He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.
9 Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.
10 When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;
11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:
12 To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;

We see in this Proverb that God is telling us that we get and hold on to His words, we gain understanding and knowledge, and ultimately wisdom. He goes on to explain how those things will deliver us, and keep us in the right path going the right way. This is very important to us to live the blessed life God intended. As we learn these things from God, we grow and change. By seeking God we play an active role in Him building us up. For me, having God build me up is essential to overcoming the many challenges life brings.

Today, why not take a moment to find something from God, perhaps a scripture, and hide it in your heart? Let God build you up.

Prayer
Father, we exalt You. Thank You for giving us wisdom. Thank You for speaking to us and bringing to our ears knowledge and understanding. These things are very needed by us, and we need Your help to stay on Your path. You alone are God. Please lead us and guide us today, Father, and bring to us Your deliverance and provision. In Jesus’ (Yeshua’s) name. Amen.
